Пособие предназначено для развития навыков чтения, понимания и перевода оригинальной литературы по специальности и умений передавать содержание и вести беседы по профильным темам. Оно рассчитано на 70 аудиторных часов и состоит из 12 уроков, приложения, включающего тексты для внеаудиторного чтения, и алфавитного словаря. Разработаны упражнения, облегчающие понимание лексико-грамматических трудностей текстов и подготавливающие студентов к воспроизведению и обсуждению получаемой информации.

ВВЕДЕНИЕ
Настоящее учебное пособие предназначено для студентов 2-го курса механико-автодорожного факультета. При условии тщательной проработки и усвоения представленного в пособии языкового и речевого материала обучающиеся смогут читать и понимать оригинальную литературу по специальности и вести беседы по профильным темам.
Пособие состоит из 12 уроков, приложения, раздела по словообразованию и алфавитного словаря. На изучение каждого урока рекомендуется затрачивать не менее 4-6 часов аудиторных занятий.
Грамматический материал представлен моделями и группируется вокруг сложных конструкций, включая такие разделы, как инфинитив и инфинитивные конструкции, причастие I и II, причастные обороты и герундий.
Материал уроков распределен следующим образом:
1.Фонетические упражнения для закрепления произносительных навыков;
2.Упражнения, направленные на введение и отработку активного лексического минимума;
3.Упражнения, предназначенные для повторения и усвоения грамматического материала;
4. Учебный текст;
5. Упражнения, направленные на активизацию и закрепление языкового и речевого материала.
Приложение включает в себя дополнительный материал для самостоятельного чтения, с помощью которого студенты смогут еще раз повторить лексический и грамматический минимум, изученный ими при работе над уроками, предназначенными для активного усвоения, список неправильных глаголов и сложных союзов и предлогов.
Работу над пособием следует проводить под руководством преподавателя, хотя наличие моделей, объяснений грамматического материала, образцов выполнения упражнений, формулировка и построение заданий позволят обучаемым справиться в случае необходимости со многими из них самостоятельно.
Упражнения на перевод с английского языка на русский и с русского на английский, а также на употребление глаголов и предлогов рекомендуется давать в качестве домашнего задания с целью более тщательной проработки речевого материала.
Заучивание диалогов предлагается также в качестве домашнего задания после активного усвоения соответствующего текста.

Фонетика: Повторение чтения буквосочетания «TION», буквы «Y» в
конце слов.
Грамматика: Инфинитив (в функции подлежащего и обстоятельства).
